Set in post-war France, young Eugene Faury is sent to visit his uncle in Bordeaux after his mother’s death.
He soon discovers his uncle not only resides in a high-class brothel [1] but is in jail. His thirst for mysteries intensifies when conversing with residents, including the girls’ tutor Victor Dousvalon. Through him, Eugene’s true calling becomes clear.
A point-and-clicker with a twist, you’ll meet a plethora of characters and examine various documents — public and confidential — that tell the story of their interconnected lives. Through these, and transcripts from your trusty tape recorder, you’ll have to carefully identify the connections and literally connect them with string and pushpins [2]. A conspiracy corkboard in your pocket! Characters can also be convincing fibbers, so you’ll have to find contradictions to catch them out. All of this is backed by charming Tintinesque visuals and an exceptional soundtrack.
Given the attention to detail required, your detective skills [3] will be vigorously tested. Also fluent French players will have an advantage as the English translation is very patchy in places. This makes it especially difficult to find exactly what you need, and movement bugs slow things down considerably.
Despite these hurdles, those looking to flex their little grey cells will find plenty to sink their teeth into. And an engrossing World War II resistance story to boot!
