PLANETILES PROVIDES PLENTIFUL PUZZLES, PRESENTED PLAYFULLY AND SPHERICALLY

Oh boy, do I love a puzzle game. Getting to know the conceit of a particular title and then working your brain matter to try and figure out solutions can be glorious.

By and large the same is true for Planetiles, an interesting take on the block slotting puzzle. Think Tetris and Lumines, but instead you’re given blocks of various shapes and sizes to lay out as brand new lands on a globe (no flat Earth here).

Each block can consist of one or multiple biomes, and your goal is to try and create a 3 x 3 square of a particular biome to raise (and eventually upgrade) structures. Clearing a level isn’t that easy though, as you could be beset by a disaster that wipes out some of your land, and you need to ensure there are only a certain number of gaps left by the time you run out of tiles, otherwise it’s game over.

Planetiles looks fantastic, and I really enjoyed the overall feel, however the UX is a tad fidgety, and the learning curve felt a tad steep, at least to me. Overall though, it’s fun!
