The thing that got my attention the most while playing this fun, arcade shooter was the music. Atmospheric chill-hop by Fat Bard with a variety of vocals. These tunes really set the mood!
In Super Space Club you’re tasked with taking out wave after wave of enemy spacecraft in a vibrantly coloured universe filled with asteroids and other hazards. When I said this was an arcade shooter, I meant it. There are no frills here, just endless battles. And that’s fine by me!
You start by building your loadout, with a choice of pilots, ships and weapons, each with their own benefits. Once you’ve found the combo that suits you, you jump into the fray, manoeuvring your ship with physics-based thrusters that require you to fire the opposite direction to stop. This can take a little practice, as can the shooting. Perhaps this was due to playing on a controller though.
If you’re looking to vibe in an arcade world (with lovely UI to boot), then Super Space Club is very much the game for you.
